Saint Vincent Paul: Seek first the kingdom of God

Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 6.24-34.

As the disciples gathered around Jesus on the mountain, he told them: "No man can serve two masters: either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to one and despise the other. You can not serve both God and Money. That's why I say: Do not make yourself so anxious for your life, about food or about your body, about clothes. Life does is it worth not more than food, and the body more than clothing? Behold the fowls of heaven, they do not sow or reap, they are not into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are ye not much better than they? Besides, who among you, by worrying can prolong his life so little? And about clothes, why be so concerned? Observe how the lilies grow: they do not work, they do not spin. But I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of them. If God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more to you, men of little faith? Do not make so much trouble, do not say, 'What shall we eat? 'Or' What shall we drink? 'Or' With what we wear? 'All these things the pagans seek. But your heavenly Father knows that you need. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given over the market. Do not get so worried about tomorrow: tomorrow will worry about itself; each day as it comes.

Seek first the kingdom of God

"Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all things you need will be given over "... It is said that one seeks the kingdom of God. " What we seek, this is just a word, but I think it says a lot. It means ... to work unceasingly for the kingdom of God, and not remain in a loose condition and stopped paying attention to its interior for the good deal, but not outside it for fun .. . Seek God in you, as Augustine confesses that while he has looked out of it, he has not found. Look for it in your soul, as in his home pleasant is the bottom where his servants who try to put all the virtues in practice set. It is the inner life, we must reach, if we lack, we lost everything ... Looking make us inside ... Seek the glory of God, seek the kingdom of Jesus Christ ...

"But [you tell me], there are so many things to do, so many offices at home, so many jobs in the city, fields; work everywhere, must we leave everything there and think only of God? "No, but we must sanctify these occupations by looking to God, and do to find rather than see them doing. Our Lord wants us all looking at his glory, his kingdom, his righteousness, and for that, we do our capital's inner life, of faith, trust, love, exercise of religion ..., work and penalties, in the sight of God our Sovereign Lord ... If once we are well established in the search for the glory of God, we are confident that the rest will follow.
