Sombrejour all ...
Today, I will submit a topic for improving Interface and Add-Ons. Indeed, if this aspect is of little interest when you begin to discover the class, however one of the damn track to become more effective when we make heroic dungeons and raids.
I try to tell you what improvements can be made via the user interface (UI) basis, the essential addons and those amusing.

From managing the basic interface:
In general, it is important to use the options on the basic interface, rather than add-ons, if possible. You'll save with this method a little memory, which is not negligible for most configurations! In addition, an interface configured properly can gain visibility, thus improving efficiency.
Small precision before giving you lists of Add On I found useful. I urge you to try to learn to set for yourself. It is usually pretty straightforward. However, if you get stuck, ask the necessary questions in the comments section of this (I have a little too often comment on items having nothing to do with the question ^ ^) and I will try to answer as best I can!

From managing the basic interface:
In general, it is important to use the options on the basic interface, rather than add-ons, if possible. You'll save with this method a little memory, which is not negligible for most configurations! In addition, an interface configured properly can gain visibility, thus improving efficiency.
- Settings Videos
First, it should adjust the level of detail of the game depending on your configuration, to get graphics as beautiful as possible without impeding performance. To do this, go Interface - Video . Therefore you can adjust the level of detail so standardized (Low, Normal, etc. ...)
What I recommend is to use the first function, but then go change some settings hand. For example, if you have a computer that runs quite a graphics card but a bit light to handle correctly the shadows, set a high level of detail, and then go off the improved display of shadows which is pretty greedy. Instead, if you have a small computer, put you at a minimum, and mount some parameters that are useful without too slow if you dose it well (as the max display). Obviously, it depends on your config, and there is no recipe. Delve, test, and try to get the best perf / aesthetics! :-)
Another popular option useful in these video settings and Scale Interface . This change took place as the elements of your interface (action bars, portrait, buffs / debuffs, etc ...) on the screen. Base, it is what makes up the UI a bit cumbersome at the least addition of add-on, so be sure to reduce it at your convenience in order to win, once again visible.
- Options inteface:
menu interface, you can find any list of potentially interesting options. I will try to indicate some useful, but I encourage you to take a few minutes to consider what might be good for you.
- Tab Control:
In this tab, it is useful to uncheck Targeting persistent to clear the target by clicking in a vacuum. "
- Tab Combat:
Check the options for displaying the bar spell targets. This allows you to see, under the portrait and health bar characters, a bar showing the fate incantation (and surrounded by a small shield if it can not be interrupted).
Also select the display of the target the target. It's frankly very useful in raids to see who the boss target. Whether it's for a resumption of aggro, or to anticipate a special attack, it contributes greatly to a good reaction time! :)
- Toolbars tab actions:
In addition to display as many bars as necessary (generally, all ...), it is to activate the option Lock . action bar. This option will prevent a click a little too "slippery" neither becomes a shortcut to your toolbar, and to move a shortcut, you must now press the Shift key at the same time as you click. Very useful for not losing a vital shortcut in the middle of a fight!
- Text tab of combat:
With this tab, you can view it in head-high (ie around your character) a lot of information (damage taken, damage done, applied debuffs, etc. ...).
this tab is not complicated, I suggest you check everything except periodic earnings power whose only interest, it seems, was for rogues at a time when energy was rising by ticks. I advise you to information about your character, to scroll low (but it's still good after your convenience!).
- Text tab status:
Displays points or percentages of life, mana, energy and other details of its kind on the bars of your character, your target groups etc ... If you use CT
Unitframes, an addon that I'll describe later, I advise you to check only "Familiar", "Group", "Display percentage" and possibly "Text of the XP bar.
- Tab Window raid
With this tab, you can display your raid as "Grid" (very popular addon for displaying raid) with everything you need for features like a tank (although trainers often need Grid for a finer adjustment). Without going into detail, I recommend a setting like that, by placing in the raid window where it remains in sight not interfere:
Take the time to test different options to customize this window your preferences. This is very useful to have a good overview of the raid (and PV in particular) as a tank!
- Tab Control:
- Managing shortcuts:
Although good noobs, we were likely to play with the mouse over many levels, one obviously it is far more effective (and enjoyable) to learn to manage his keyboard. And tanking, the need for responsiveness accentuates this need. Therefore, it is not hard to understand why it is important to organize shortcuts.
The arrow keys at first. It is important to play with the set "WASD" and not "↑ ← ↓ →" to have access to enough keys. It sounds trivial, but I think the board will not necessarily be unnecessary for some. ^ _ ^
How to change button assignments?
Go menu shortcuts "this in the interface, and change one by one, the desired keys. Note that you can assign two keys to an action. For example, as you'll see below, the 6 button home button and A have the same function.
Hint way, I strongly suggest you check the option "Shortcuts character" so that changes you make do not affect your other characters (which usually does not care mess in the interfaces of those it).
keys that I advise you to use:
- The keys: ie all those "square" to "=". In general, apart the "square", they are assigned to slots of the corresponding main action bar. The square can be used to what you want (for my case, see the example at the end of this part).
- A and E are generally a good way to save time. Indeed, their basic function (the strafe) is moderately useful as easily replaced by a proper management of conventional directional buttons combined with the mouse. (Or the mouse buttons) you can put a spell on you regularly use or on the contrary some casual but where you need to be responsive.
- combinations ctrl + X or alt + X with X is a number or letter.
- Various keys that are not (or little) normally: G, H, J, etc. ...
Suggestion config key:
I suggest you explain how mine are set (you can preview the report on the screen at the end of the article). I emphasize the fact that it is a suggestion ! Each has its habits and its config. ^ _ ^
Main Bar: major attacks, especially early in the bar since it is rare that I go looking for keys beyond the 5 with my fingers ptits! So: Death Strike = 1, = 2 in the heart touching = 3, Plague Strike = 4, Grip = 5. I use the tilde key to the striking rune, in fact, I find it easy accessible and therefore suitable for a spell used very frequently!
secondary bar (the one above the main) : combinations of alt + 1 to 5 and alt + ctrl +1 through ctrl + 5. Mainly for spells DC: Death and decomposition, Rafale, Unbreakable Armor, Toughness ... NB: For convenience, I use alt + A (anti-magic shell), ctrl + A (vampire blood), alt + E (Bone Shield) and Ctrl + E (strength) equivalent to some of these shortcuts is .
A and E: for Spells Death Coil and Death Strike since they are frequently used (less for death strikes, but a residue of my old config, you can easily put the Rune Strike instead). Even if these spells are in my main bar (6 and 7) I've affected them these shortcuts because otherwise they are not accessible enough, given their frequency of use.
G, H, J, K: for spells that need to be achieved easily, but a little more casual (bloody Drain, Dark Order, Strengthening Rune weapon, Horn of Winter).
Tip helpful!
To view the life bars above characters enemies, press V (and to remove them). Note that with this display, you can also spell bar in the red.
menu shortcuts, you can configure the buttons to display the bars friendly targets, or both.
- Chat Window:
If this is not essential to have a good game, it is nice to have a chat window well done.
The first advice I give to you is to properly adjust the opacity. Indeed, basic, the chat window are transparent which is quite embarrassing for readability. You can therefore, by right clicking on the tab of the chat window to change, choose to pay it (in option with a small square showing its color). Generally, an opacity of 70-80% is a good compromise.
But the setting that will be really useful, especially in raids, is that dedicated windows. You can create chat window displaying that channel activity guild, whisper, etc ... To do this, choose (by right-clicking a tab) "Create a new window. Choose a name for him then. Finally, by right clicking on the tab for it and choosing "settings" you can define channels to display. I advise you this:
- The base window. Unless particular preference, do not change the list of information and channels that are displayed. It will be your base window, the one that gives all the necessary info.
- A window "Whisper" displaying only the whispers sent and received. Very helpful, given the flood raid to verify that we have not made a comment / request useful earlier in the evening!
- A window "Raid" which will not show the channel or the guild loot received. You can also disable various channels like the lyrics and screaming boss or channels customized to your liking. The important thing is to have canals raid group, whisp, and some channel type tanks in your guild.
- Possibly a window displaying only the guild channel. It can track what happened during breaks over raids and wipes. :-)
Note that the addon Prat (see next section) is a good tool for these settings there, because by entering the time in the chat log, it can be at what time an event of window happened. Typically, you see that in your window whisp y 'a message that you had not seen, you have the time to avoid answering "Lol" to a message that someone sent you earlier 1:30!
It also records the last conversations he reappears (in the appropriate window, please!) After a reconnection, which is very convenient too!
Small precision before giving you lists of Add On I found useful. I urge you to try to learn to set for yourself. It is usually pretty straightforward. However, if you get stuck, ask the necessary questions in the comments section of this (I have a little too often comment on items having nothing to do with the question ^ ^) and I will try to answer as best I can!
very useful Add-Ons:
- Aloft (Thanks to Morkh!): This addon
, once properly configured, can replace the bars of the mobs (obtained via the V ) with bars showing explicitly whether it has aggro. You can see red mobs that the tank has aggro, in green, the other (and the addon can be configured to have as a color for the impending loss of aggro or rather the imminent resumption):
/ / TODO: To screen
settings Aloft, Wed Morkh we still have it detailed in this comment ! With these settings there you will have an aura around the life bars indicating aggro.
For my part, I prefer the bar itself is colored according to the aggro (only active in combat, otherwise the colors are "normal"). To do this, use the "Use Health Bar" (in the section indicated by Morkh). Then loot is not very hard (and if not comment ^ ^).
- Blood Shield Tracker :
This addon gives you two small movable bar that will be super useful in managing Master your . The first displays the care considered by Death Strike, with a progress bar will evolve depending on the damage received, indicating when the task will exceed the 7% minimum (the bar will change color).
The other bar is a bar that shows everything you need to know about the shield when it is active: its value, the remaining percentage (with progress bar as well, the color adjustment using the visibility ) and the number of seconds remaining before disappearing.
- Classtimer :
Here is an addon for almost indispensable a lot of classes, including DK Tank! This lets you see the bars (or icons with a digital timer) displaying the techniques and buffs on you, your target, your pet or your focus (you can disable one or the other at will. Perso I does not target or focus). These bars / icons are of course placeable anywhere.
For example, you can see at any time if your buff blades Barrier is active, to launch the techniques accordingly. Similarly, when you start a CD ( Robustness Frozen , Dancing Rune Weapon ...) you will see all Time is now buff it on you.
Finally, note that you can set to display them at your leisure or not, and even add
(so you can see the buffs associated with jewelry for example).
- CT Unit Frames :
Addon lightweight and efficient display and PV% of your character, your targets etc. ...
- Deadly Boss Mod :
Send this addon is almost mandatory in raids. Indeed, he gives full info on all the boss (Berserker, timer before a particular attack, alert type ONOES! You are in flames! ", Etc ...)
- Ice Hud :
This is known in the jargon of aviation, a display system "head-high"! The idea, even if you're not flying a Rafale (no screaming olol) is to have in your field of vision of essential information.
/ / TODO: Screen
In this case, the PVs are particularly important: always know where you stand can make you more effective in taking care of stones or use the macro sacrifice ghoul (see article). You can also set the bar to see those of your enemies, caste, color bars, their investments, transparency, etc ... All is customizable, you just take some time to tweak this addon and how walking options.
- Rack Item:
A classic, this addon on your minimap provides a little icon to change the view in one click, and put on predefined set. Very useful stuff to go from DPS to tank, but also (and especially!) For street wear!
Where this addon is really much better than the functionality of Blizzard to do this, Itema Rack is used to define slots "neutral". Indeed, the tool Blizzad, all slots for the set must have a definite object (or anything, but we need to define something). While in item rack, you can intoxicate a cell (eg for the tabard) so that when you load the set in question, the item that is currently equipped on the corresponding location remains. Whatever!
- Omen:
addon to manage your aggro and see your target, what is your threat. Its appearance is easily altered, it hides easily and simply moves too (think lock not to slide involuntarily).
- OmniCC :
Displays a timer on your technical subject to a cooldown. It may not seem like much, but in terms of visibility in combat, it's really precious!
- Buster Rating:
This will give you much info on the items.
one hand, the intrinsic details of it, for example, next to the indication + X Force, he wrote (in parentheses) correspondence on parade.
On the other hand, you will lower the item made a summary of the stats and if you hover over an item in your bag (or link by someone on / g for example), you will have a comparative stats between this object and what you equivalent equipped.
- WoW Curse Client :
In fact, it's not just an add on, but an external program that allows you to manage them. It is particularly effective for the update of your add ons in one click and deleting ones you no longer want.
frankly awesome!
- Yury's RuneDisplay :
Like Ice Hud, this addon is a system called "head-high" to manage your runes, something essential because it is impossible to choose the treatment to start without knowing the real-time status of rune and PR pro. Super easy to configure and move, and very effective!
/ / TODO: Screen
- ACP :
This addon allows you to enable or disable addons without Deco / recce, just a reload of the interface. It's stupid, but it may be useful in raids!
- AtlasLoot: (Thanks to Mourneor!)
This addon integrates into play a little database objects (primarily equipment) ordered by means of production. Very handy to know if a boss you something that interests you, or see objects easily accessible to a deemed granted.
Note that it includes items obtained also badges, PvP, crafts (with the required components), etc. ...
- Battlecry ( Unfortunately not day ... For now!)
Totally unnecessary. Therefore absolutely essential! (Especially since it terribly souler your guildmates this addon ... ^ ^) It can set, for each of your spells and abilities, emote it either / s / y or / e (or what you actually want ...).
(cry sometimes when I launched a caste Rafale Shrieking)
The enormous interest in relation to standard macro (it also does not clutter your Macros window), then you can set the percentage chance that a "cry" is launched with a spell, a CD and it hits on (ie for the same fate, you can adjust several emotes and ensure that some have more chance of being launched as the others).
- Classicon :
This is my baby!
... Finally, to be perfectly honest, I have an addon that was dead, and I've updated. It simply displays an icon on the portrait of your character, Target and members of your group.
This icon indicates, for the players, class, and for another type of mob (UD, humanoid, etc. ...).
- Livestock :
True Livestock stables this laptop! He put in your interface buttons to summon pets, ground and flying mounts at random from your lists.
terrible
The trick is that you can turn off some frames. Thus, with a button you get a macro equivalent to a "castrandom" but super easy to configure!
Note also that the Smart button, depending on where you are and if you are in combat, will release a ground mount or flying, or you go into wolf form, travel! (For those who have characters shaman / druid ^ ^)
- Prat :
Addon format the chat window. Offers many options such as viewing time, prefixes (those showing the window) easier, etc ...
A bit cumbersome to configure, but once that's done, it's great wig! \\ O /
